We are seeking a dynamic reporter for the GP brand to cover the latest news in healthcare across all media platforms.
GP is well known for breaking exclusive stories for the UK’s 50,000 family doctors which are frequently followed up by the national media.
The successful candidate will be joining GP at an exciting time, as the brand celebrates its 50th birthday. The successful fortnightly print title is now backed by a fully interactive iPad edition that won the PPA’s Business Media App of Year in 2013. Meanwhile, our popular website GPonline.com is going from strength to strength with its combination of daily medical news, opinion, and clinical education.
GP is part of Haymarket Medical Media, which also produces MIMS, Medeconomics, Inside Commissioning, and mycme.com, and delivers a wide range of medical education projects.
We’re looking for someone with first-rate reporting and writing skills, who is enthusiastic and keen to beat our rivals to the best stories. You will already have some experience of journalism, and be used to producing news on a daily basis for a website and/or weekly title. You will also be expected to write regular news analysis articles.
Medical knowledge or scientific qualifications would be an advantage.
You will need to establish strong relationships with the key people in the sector, so excellent networking skills are essential.
Ideally you will also have some experience of data journalism, understand how social media can be used to enhance news coverage and have some knowledge of multimedia journalism, including video and blogs.
This is a permanent, full-time position
