Senior Production Controller - Haymarket Network at Haymarket

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Britain's largest privately owned publishing company requires a senior production controller to work in the Network division production department.
The role will be to provide management of specific titles within the Network division Your responsibilities will begin pre repro and end once the title has been delivered or mailed and will cover quality, budgeting, print buying.
 
Experience in Indesign and Photoshop is essential.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Scheduling all titles, via liaison with editorial, account managers, repro and printer/distribution.
• Monitor the daily progress of current projects and communicate to the Production manager.
• Liaise with advertisers, suppliers, advertising and editorial, ensuring the effective processing on schedule of advertisement copy/digital files/inserts to the required format or design.
• Check all copy supplied, prepare for pdf workflow and inform clients and account mangers where needed of any problems.
• Create Indesign documents, or where supplied check pdf files, create PDF files and prepare for pdf workflow and transmit to Printer.
• Ensure schedules are adhered to for all above processes.
• Buy and place print based on best price from three identical quotes from appropriate suppliers.
• Support Production Manager with costings for one off, promotional and magazine costings.
• Regularly pass your titles on press to be agreed with the production manager.
• Provide accurate costs for any additional work relating to the title.
Production is a vital information hub for the company, working with all internal departments, printers and repro houses. Good relationships and communication are essential to the role of a Senior Production Controller.  Enthusiasm, versatility and ability to work well under pressure are essential.

• Understanding of print and pre press processes and suppliers.
• Maturity and the ability to be able to liaise effectively and positively between other departments and external suppliers/clients
• Flexible, innovative, conscientious and diligent attitude.
• Excellent project management skills demonstrating a proactive and organised approach to managing multiple projects
• Excellent literacy and numeracy skills and attention to correct spelling and grammar
• Strong proof reading skills and attention to detail
• Punctuality, time management and organizational skills
• Good telephone manner and strong communication skills
• Computer literacy in Office programmes, In design and Photoshop
• Financial awareness in relation to excessive repro corrections, missed schedules, late changes, inefficient flat planning etc
