Brand/Title Description

Job Purpose:

 

Working within the Internet Operations Team to assist the Release Manager with the build & release process for software development throughout the product lifecycle. Primary job duties will be conducting efficient and reliable releases between the QA, Staging & Production environments.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Build & package deployment

  • Perform release deployments using manual and automated methods
  • Work with Development Teams to ensure builds & packages are constructed correctly
  • Work closely with System Manager(s) and DBA(s) to ensure successful releases

 

Load & vulnerability testing

  • Ensure a suitable level of load testing is performed on releases prior to deployment to the Production environment
  • Perform vulnerability testing on all new major releases

 

Documentation and processes

·         Maintain up-to-date documentation

·         Implement and maintain release process & workflow diagrams

·         Provide assistance with design of processes

  • Follow change management process

·         Implement best practice approaches, i.e. ITIL

Person Specification

Required Skills:

 

Technical

  • Experience and understanding of deployment concepts
  • Experience and understanding in development technologies
  • Experience of source control tools, i.e. Subversion/SVN, VSS, Team Foundation
  • Experience of automation software / tools
  • Exposure to high availability web servers
  • Experience and understanding of MS Windows 2003 Server architecture, administration and security
  • Extensive experience of MS IIS 6.0 / 7.0 & Apache web server technologies
  • Experience of administration MS .NET applications
  • Experience and  understanding Linux system administration
  • Experience and understanding of load balancing principles
  • Understand the concepts of current hardware systems, RAID, SAN, NAS commonly used in fault tolerant production environments
  • Good understanding of networking principals
  • Good understanding of databases including clusters and replication
  • Experience with working in software development lifecycles (SDLC)
  • Understanding of best practice approaches, i.e. ITIL, Agile, SCRUM

·         Virtualisation (Microsoft Virtual Server / VM ware)

 

Other:

 

l  Requirement to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for after hours support

l  Occasional travel between London offices
